Thermal Performance Assessor & Building Designer
Hi, I’m Jemma - designer, energy assessor, and the face behind Zone Zero.
I studied a Bachelor of Design (Architecture) and a Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours), then spent over a decade immersed in residential projects along Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula. Over this time, my passion for creating environmentally sustainable homes grew - homes that aren’t just beautiful, but also low in environmental impact, high-performing, and comfortable to live it. That passion led me to seek out new perspectives and deepen my knowledge.
My journey took a pivotal turn when I joined a Permaculture Design Course, which introduced me to the concept of zone zero - the home or central living space at the heart of a sustainable system. This idea became the foundation of what Zone Zero is about: starting with the home to create meaningful, lasting change.
To further my expertise, I completed a Certificate IV in Home Energy Efficiency and Sustainability and became an accredited Thermal Performance Assessor with Design Matters. Now based in Margaret River, I focus on helping clients across Australia create homes that contribute to a sustainable future for both people and the planet.
Always drawing inspiration from nature, when I'm not working, you'll likely find me exploring the stunning landscapes of the Southwest, lost in a garden project, or sitting in the sunshine knitting something new.
